Science experiments for children – Bottle rocket. This experiment shows that a pressure buildup can launch a rocket. When the pressure inside the bottle is able to disconnect the plug in the bottom of the bottle, the water will come out with a jet from the bottom, while the bottle will be launched in the opposite direction.

What do you need?
an empty plastic bottle
a cone, and 4 ailerons made of colored cardboard
water
a cork
a bicycle pump with a needle adapter
(to achieve the cap-fitting exist various possibilities, see the links at the bottom of the article. The important thing is that the system is constructed in such a way as not to log off as long as the bottle has not accumulated a sufficient pressure to the launch )

What to do?
Push the adapter needle of the pump through the cork (if does not come out, shorten the cork).
Decorate the bottle with the cone and ailerons. Fill the bottle with water for about a quarter and firmly push the cork to the mouth of bottle. Connect the pump to the adapter.
The ailerons can be used just to hold the bottle vertically, but you can also build a ramp with a plastic tube, a metal crutch, pickets camping or wooden boards, as shown in the link at the bottom of the article.
Pump up the bottle: take flight after a few seconds.
The space rockets work similarly to the bottle, but instead of the water jet burn fuel to create a jet of hot gas.
